“It’s Getting Hot”
I recently carved and completed a test print for this linocut of a frog jumping out of a pot of boiling water. Here is a video of the printmaking process, showing how I carve and print on a small press at home.
The world is pretty crazy and this metaphor of the frog in boiling water - about failing to notice gradual changes in the environment until it is too late has been popping up a lot in my sketchbook. Of course, this has been proven wrong from a scientific perspective - the frog WILL jump out, but it is an important metaphor. Friends, stay vigilant and dust off those history books.
This was just a quick idea that I wanted to carve out as I start exploring ideas for a new series. I had never carved "hot water" so that needs some work and the pot is pretty wonky looking, but it was a fun, quick linocut.
